K9 Rip Joins Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office has announced that it has a new team of K9 officers.

According to a statement, K9 Rip began service last month with Deputy Tony Hanson as manager.

K9 Rip is a 20 month old Belgian Malinois, a breed that makes good police dogs as they are intelligent, protective, quick and hardworking.

Deputy Hanson and K9Rip recently graduated from their first 14-week training program and are certified by the National Police Canine Association for Patrol Operations and Narcotics Detection.

Larissa Donovan is the Stations News Director for Paul Bunyan Broadcasting and has been, almost continuously, since Election Day 2016. She covers all the beats of North Central Minnesota, such as local government, crime , education, environment and social issues. . She studied communications at Bemidji State University.
